課程概述 |
In this course we will cover issues related to designs and analysis of experiments used in psychological research. Students will have the opportunity to apply important quantitative reasoning skills related to research in the behavioral sciences.
Topics include completely randomized designs, randomized block designs, repeated measures designs, latin square, hierarchical designs, split-plot designs, etc. Statistical principles and analysis (such as power and planned comparison) also will be discussed.
Problem sets will be assigned once a while and are due a week later on Wednesday at the beginning of class. No late homework, please.
TAKE-HOME READINGS AND CLASS PRESENTATION
In addition to the textbook, several take-home readings will be assigned to groups and will be discussed 1-2 weeks later. Students are required to give presentations in class. Class participation (including Q/A) is important.

課程目標 |
The goal is to help students develop the following skills and abilities:
(1) Think critically about the application of experimental designs in psychological research;
(2) Understand and apply appropriate statistical analyses for different types of experimental designs.
(Note that learning to use computer software(s) as an analytic tool for experimental hypotheses is important, but it is not the main focus of this course.) |
